Вегетаріанська вірменська їжа: питання, які варто поставити перед замовленням

Зазирніть за межі назви овочевої страви і запитайте про бульйон, начинки, використовувані жири та спосіб приготування.

A familiar name is only the starting point

Вірменський and Armenian-diaspora menus can offer appealing grain, legume, herb and vegetable dishes, but recipes vary. Dolma may contain meat or a meat-free filling. A lentil dish can include butter or be prepared with stock that does not fit your diet. Describe what you avoid у plain language instead of relying only on the word vegetarian. If you also avoid dairy, eggs or honey, say so explicitly and ask about the particular version being served.

Ask about the less visible ingredients

Stock, cooking fat, sauces and garnishes can matter as much as the main ingredient. Ask whether rice is cooked in meat stock, whether yogurt accompanies the dish and whether butter is added before serving. Shared grills, fryers and preparation surfaces may be relevant to your personal requirements. Vegetarian preferences and food allergies are different questions: a meat-free dish does not establish allergy safety. For an allergy, explain the specific ingredient and discuss cross-contact directly with the business.

Build an order around confirmed options

Once the kitchen has explained its ingredients, choose a few complementary dishes rather than assuming every salad or dip is suitable. Bread, legumes, roasted vegetables and herbs can make a varied meal when their preparation fits your needs. Ask whether a requested change is practical and whether it affects the price. Menus and suppliers can change, so confirm important details each time you order. If the kitchen cannot answer confidently, choose another option instead of treating uncertainty as confirmation.
